1) You emphasize that the Living Lean Program is about fat loss instead of weight loss. What’s the difference?

When you lose weight, what are you losing? You don't lose bones or organs, so your weight loss is either water, muscle or fat. Let's start with water. Say you weighed yourself right now, than went and drank an 8-ounce glass of water. if you weighed yourself again, the scale would say you gained a half a pound. But your clothes don't fit any differently, and your metabolism hasn't changed. If you lose muscle (which is the result of most diets and dieting) you're lighter according to the scale, but you're actually worse off. Why? All the fat is still there, you've actually decreased your ability to burn calories and your metabolism is slower. You were better off before you lost the weight. Every time you lose just one pound of body fat, you have less fat on your body, more of your body burns calories, and your metabolism is more efficient. So the answer is fat loss, not random weight loss.

2) I don’t know the first thing about how to test my body fat. Is it important?

If you're serious about fat and long-term success, you have no starting point until you get your body fat tested. It is the single most important step for anyone.

3) I have a goal weight that I want to achieve. If I’m not paying attention to the scale, how will I know when I reach my goal?

What size do you wear now? What size do you want to be? Then those are the only numbers you should care about. Once you're at your dream size, do you really care what the numbers on the scale say?

4) Every diet I’ve ever been on has failed me; I lose weight at the beginning, and after a while I just stop losing weight. How do I know that won’t happen on The Living Lean Program?

For starters - did you ever get your body fat tested? Did you follow a customized meal plan designed specifically for you? The people who have taken advantage of the Living Lean Program don't hit that typical "plateau" phase for one simple reason: Every time you lose a pound of fat, you're working with a stronger metabolism, which means that losing the next pound should be even easier!

5) Why do I need a customized meal plan? Isn’t there a generic diet that will work for me?

There's not one template that works for everybody. Muscle has to be fed. The amount of muscle we have on our bodies is uniquely different:our activity level has to be addressed, lifestyle has to be addressed, and food preferences have to be addressed. You will never follow a meal plan, no matter how effective, if you're eating foods you don't like. It won't work, especially long term.

6) How is it possible to lose weight by eating more?

The most effective way to stimulate your metabolism is through ingesting and digesting food. Digesting food actually burns calories! the more often you eat, the more you stimulate your metabolism, and by eating frequently, you're less likely to put your body into a "store mode". The person who eats five times a day stimulates their metabolism far more than the person who eats two times a day. Another benefit of eating frequently is that your energy levels will remain more consistent.

7) What if there’s food on my plan that I don’t like?

The best part of the Living Lean Program is that you'll be eating foods that you like, that you pick. So the only way that a certain food will show up in your meal plan is if you told us it was okay to put it there. We've said it before, but it bears repeating: For long-term success, a customized, personalized meal plan is the only way to go. You won't follow a plan, no matter how successful, if you're eating food you don't like.

8) Do I have to buy any prepackaged foods, or pills, or powders?

Like we say, "The answer is in the supermarket." The foundation of what makes the Living Lean Program so successful is that the foods on the meal plan are found in your local grocery store.

9) How quickly can I expect to reach my goal?

On average, our goal is to target 1 to 2 pounds of body fat per week, consistently, with each and every client.

10) I’m diabetic. Can I go on The Living Lean Program?

When we first created the Living Lean Program over a decade ago, our first priority was to make people healthy and increase their quality of life, and that includes people with health issues like diabetes. We know that food is a critical factor in the daily life of a diabetic because of its impact on blood sugar levels. We'll work with you to build a meal plan that takes health issues into account, and takes them seriously.

11) Is The Living Lean Program covered by my health insurance?

Unfortunately, weight loss/ weight control has never typically been covered under most insurance companies because much of weight loss is vanity. However, if you look at many disease states, like hypertension and diabetes, you will notice that many of the people suffering from these conditions are overfat. The medical community now is starting to look at obesity as a contributing factoring many diseases; hopefully, that will lead to positive change in the area of prevention
